Still Hunt is an Exotic sniper rifle introduced in The Final Shape. It is capable of firing Golden Gun shots, amplifying its damage beyond what most sniper rifles can output, but you will need to land a few headshots to build up the weapon's super meter. When the meter is full and you have landed six headshots, you can hold the reload button to get three Golden Gun bullets, which can be fired just like regular sniper shots.

Unlike some of the other weapons in the expansion, Still Hunt is pretty easy to get with a short quest to complete. To unlock Still Hunt, you need to:

  • Finish The Final Shape's campaign
  • Complete the Destined Heroes Exotic Quest up to Step 4 to unlock the Wild Card Exotic quest
  • Complete the Wild Card Exotic mission
  • Listen to the radio in the Old Tower in The Pale Heart and talk to Cayde-6

Unlocking the Wild Card Exotic quest

Before you can even begin working towards Still Hunt, you need to have finished The Final Shape's campaign and also have started the Destined Heroes Exotic quest. This is automatically unlocked at the end of the campaign and will eventually allow you to grab Ergo Sum, the new Exotic sword.

Once you reach Step 4 of this quest and need to talk to Cayde-6, you will be able to pick up the Wild Card Exotic quest from him as well. A complete guide to these initial steps can be found in our breakdown of how to unlock Ergo Sum. However, you can find a brief rundown of the main mechanics in Step 2 of the quest below.

Step 2 of Destined Heroes will take you into the adventure Queens, Part 1. This adventure tasks you with deflecting enemy fire and aiming them at the correct elemental runes to overload them using the Sword relic.

The first two fights follow this formula. So, when near the elemental runes, hold the deflect button and aim at the Arc, Void, or Solar runes. However, the second fight does throw in a curveball. The Runes will actually be protected by Hive barriers, which can only be destroyed by hitting the Hive orbs above them with your Sword's projectile.

So, you will need to hit them, and then deflect the enemy fire to hit the runes. You will be fighting Hive throughout this mission so as a quick note on what damage types enemies deal, here is a rundown:

  • Wizards: Shoot Arc
  • Knights: Shoot Fire
  • Shriekers: Shoot Void

The third and fourth fights switch things up by having you throw balls or energy at the runes from Hive statues, rather than reflect damage with your sword. Beyond that, the mechanic is identical.

After finishing the mission, you can then talk to Micah-10 who will give you some more post-campaign quests and then Cayde-6. Upon talking with Cayde you will be able to continue the Destined Heroes quest, and grab Wild Card, which is the one you want to unlock Still Hunt.

Wild Card Exotic Mission

From the Old Tower's balcony in The Pale Heart, you can jump down and find the beacon to start the Exotic mission, which is a little lengthy, so strap in.

Finding the Tainted Dark Ether

This mission will teleport you to The Landing, where you will need to complete a variety of activities and destroy some enemy targets. Initially, you will need to investigate an area and spot a extremely large Heavy Shank flying above you, which you can shoot but not quite kill yet.

Follow the objective marker and investigate the second area on the opposite side of The Landing. Finally, when you have investigated that area, you want to do the same, on the cliff edge underneath the bridge. You will then need to set up Camp so you can transmit your supplies and rest.

Your objective marker will then take you back to the other side of The Landing, where you will find a ton of Screebs and War Beasts to kill to collect Tainted Dark Ether. After killing the enemies, grab the motes from them, and move onto the second area to do the same thing.

With all the Tainted Dark Ether collected in the second area, you will then need to go to the other side of the The Landing once again and investigate a strange energy signature that has been picked up.

Once at the site of the energy signature, your Ghost will tell you that the dead Screebs here have had all their Ether drained from them. Follow the trail of dead Screebs into the cave-like area and kill the Cabal turrets that are positioned around the area. Investigate the dead Cabal forces on the hill. Shortly after, you will be ambushed by more War Beasts, who you will need to kill.

On top of the regular War Beasts, you will also have to contend with a major War Beast: Devourer of Tainted Light. This War Beast is incredibly tanky, and as it will bite at you, it is not the easiest of enemies to fight. However, Stasis linear fusion rifles, swords, Supers, and other powerful explosives can help you wittle its health down over time - but it is best to save these for the middle or end of the fight.

After doing a brief bit of damage, it will gain a shield and you will need to kill all the enemies sitting within the Cabal barrier that has spawned nearby to drop it.

Another barrier will then spawn by the Cabal you investigated earlier, and you will need to fight the War Beast and the remaining enemies within this barrier, which can be tricky. That is why you want to save your most powerful attacks for this section, as you can chain explosions or wipe out entire waves of forces easily.

With the War Beast down, you can return to the camp by the bridge. Here, you will notice the Ether has gone and there is a spillage. You will now need to recover it, but first take a rest in your camp to recover.

Recovering the Tainted Dark Ether

After you rest, you will wake up to a Taken ambush and need to wipe out four groups of Taken from across The Landing in order to destroy the Blights. Once defeated, another two Blights will spawn, this time protected by Omen of the Witness Major enemies.

You will need to kill them both to destroy the Blights. As with the War Beast Major enemy, Supers, swords, and linear fusion rifles are the way to go. However, as you can fight them from range, sniper rifles and rockets can also work.

With both of them down, return to The Crow at the camp and rest once again. Upon waking, head back to where you first investigated the area at the start of the mission. Here you will find a cave underneath the cliff edge, which you can jump down to.

In this cave, you can draw out the Megashank you saw earlier by shooting the shanks in the distance. The Megashank will then spawn in, and you can kill it from afar, before it eventually flies over to you and you can finish it off.

Once it is defeated, you will return to the camp and need to find the stolen Tainted Dark Ether. You will be teleported into a cave in The Transgression.

Follow the objective marker, to another cave, where you will find hoards of Screebs to kill. At the back of the cave, you will see the canister of Tainted Dark Ether and by inspecting it, you will summon the Lil'liks, Harvester of the Witness, the final enemy standing between you and getting the Tainted Dark Ether back.

At 66% health, it will raise a shield, which you can only remove by killing the Screebs that spawn and depositing the Tainted Dark Ether from them into the canister. When you reach 10 depsoited Dark Ether, it will respawn, and you can wittle down its health again.

When it reaches 33% health, you will need to do the same thing and deposit Tainted Dark Ether from the Screebs into the canister. It will then respawn, allowing you to finish it off. To cap off the Exotic mission, a cutscene between The Crow and Cayde will play, and you will be teleported back to the camp. Talk with both The Crow and Cayde to finish the mission.

Return to the Old Tower

Finally, with the mission complete, you can return to the Old Tower in The Pale Heart to listen to the radio transmission by your Ghost. After listening to it, talk to Cayde-6 to obtain Still Hunt.
