Returns & Refund - Play it Again Sports (2024)

We want all of our customers to be fully satisfied with their purchases from Play It Again Sports. This return policy outlines the details and conditions for returns and exchanges.

Returns and Exchanges

If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with a purchase from our store, you may return most items within 30 days of the original purchase date for a full refund or exchange. Some exclusions apply which are outlined below.

To be eligible for a return, items must be in the original packaging and in sellable condition. Customized or personalized products are non-returnable. Items must be returned to the original store where purchased along with the original receipt to be eligible for a return or exchange.

Online purchases may be returned by mail or at any retail store location. Please note that you are responsible for return shipping costs on mail returns. We recommend using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance in case the return is lost or damaged in transit.

Returns and exchanges of gift cards are subject to the Gift Card Return Policy outlined below.

Return Process

To start the return process for an in-store purchase:

  1. Bring the merchandise and original receipt to the store where the item was originally purchased
  2. Notify a sales associate you wish to make a return
  3. Provide the reason for the return
  4. If approved, you may receive your refund at the store or the amount can be immediately placed back on your original form of payment

To start the return process for an online purchase:

  1. Log in to your account to access order history details needed for the return
  2. Select the item(s) you wish to return
  3. Print out a return authorization form to be included with your return
  4. Repackage the item with all tags and labels and include the return authorization
  5. Ship the return using a trackable shipping service to the returns facility address printed on the authorization form
  6. Once received and inspected, refunds are typically processed within 5 business days

Return Exceptions and Exclusions

While we aim to accommodate all reasonable returns, the following items have special restrictions or are non-returnable:

  • Clearance/As-Is Items– Items marked as clearance, sold “as-is”, or denoted as non-returnable are not eligible for returns due to the discounted nature of these sales. All sales are final.
  • Mattresses and Bedding– Due to health regulations, mattresses and some bedding items such as comforters and pillows are non-returnable if opened or used. They may only be returned in brand new unopened condition.
  • Personal Care Products– For health and sanitary reasons, personal care items such as mouthguards and other protective equipment cannot be returned once opened or used.
  • Custom Orders– Any custom made or personalized orders are non-returnable. This includes but is not limited to custom uniforms, engraved items, and special orders.
  • Gift Cards– Gift card returns are subject to the Gift Card Return Policy.
  • Items Missing Parts or Damaged– All items must be returned in full working condition with no missing components, parts, or damage beyond normal wear and tear to be approved for a return or exchange.
  • Jerseys– Due to the nature of sports jerseys only having value for a short period of time tied to active players, customized jerseys are non-returnable. Standard jerseys may be returned within 30 days as long as they are in original new condition with all tags.

Any non-returnable products received by our returns center will be sent back to the original shipping address at the customer’s expense.

Gift Card Return Policy

Play It Again Sports gift cards will be refunded or replaced if unused, undamaged, registered, and returned with the original receipt within 30 days of the purchase date. Beyond 30 days or without a receipt, unused gift cards will be eligible for a store credit only. Damaged cards or expired cards cannot be returned or replaced.

To return a gift card purchased online or look up gift card balance:

  1. Visit ourgift card center
  2. Enter the gift card number
  3. Access return and balance tools

To return a gift card purchased in-store:

  1. Bring the physical gift card and original purchase receipt to any store location within 30 days
  2. Request a return and refund
  3. If beyond 30 days, store credit will be issued for the last known balance

Refund Methods

Once your return is received and processed at our returns facility, refunds are typically issued within 5 business days. Refund methods may vary depending on the original form of payment:

  • Credit Card Purchases– Returns are processed as credits back to the original credit card used at the time of purchase. Refunds to debit cards are processed the same way.
  • Cash/Check Purchases– Refunds for cash or check payments will be issued as store credit redeemable at any location.
  • PayPal/Other Digital Wallets– Digital wallet refunds are credited back to the account used at the time of transaction.
  • Store Credit– If an item was purchased using a store credit, the amount will be placed back on the credit as an available balance. No cash refunds are given for items bought with store credit.

Please note: Any exchanges for a product of lesser value will result in the balance being placed on a store credit to be used for future purchases. No cash or credit card refunds are given for exchange value differences.

Return Shipping

Customers are responsible for paying for their own shipping costs on all returns. We recommend using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance in case the return is lost or damaged in transit. We are not liable for lost or damaged returns shipped without insurance protection.

Once your return is delivered to our processing facility you will receive an email confirmation that the return was received. Once inspected for completeness and condition, approved refunds are typically processed within 5 business days. After 15 days, if your refund still has not appeared, please reach out to our customer service team to have the status investigated.

Exchanges

Most non-personalized and non-customized items can be directly exchanged at any retail store location as long as it is within 30 days of original purchase and you have the original receipt. Bring the item, packaging, accessories, and receipt to the store to process an even exchange.

If you need a different size, color, or completely different item not available in-store we are happy to offer a free mail exchange. Start by contacting our Customer Service team for return instructions. Indicate you wish to process a mail exchange and specify the alternate item(s) desired and applicable size/color options needed.

Once your original return is received, the exchange order will be processed and applicable sales tax charged. Exchanges shipping from our warehouse or alternate store location will incur normal shipping fees which must be paid before the exchange order ships out.

Please note that any price differences between original and exchange items will be handled as follows:

  • Higher Priced Exchanges– Any positive value difference must be paid by customer before new order ships
  • Lower Priced Exchanges– Remaining value after even exchange will be placed on a store credit that can be applied to future purchases

Defective, Damaged or Incorrect Items

On rare occasions, merchandise may arrive defective, fail shortly after receipt, be incorrectly shipped, or become accidentally damaged during the return process. Please inspect packages promptly upon arrival and contact us right away if any problems are found.

Generally we require returns to be in sellable condition in order to be approved. However, exceptions can be made for defective and damaged items on a case-by-case basis. Please provide detailed photos showing any issues or damage when disputing a return denial.

Replacement items for damaged, defective, or incorrectly shipped goods will be sent only after the original item has been received by our returns center for inspection. Photos and testing may be required before approving a replacement. Standard shipping fees apply to replacement item delivery.

Refund Denials and Disputes

If issues arise and a return or refund is initially denied by our processing team, customers may file a dispute by contacting our customer service department. Please be prepared to provide the following details:

  • Order number
  • Original purchase date
  • Return authorization number
  • Reason initial return was denied
  • Additional details supporting why return should be accepted

With this information our staff can fully investigate disputed returns and either overturn the denial or provide clarification if policies were not properly met. If defects or damage during shipping is suspected, please provide detailed photos clearly showing any flaws or issues being disputed.

Any disputes must be submitted within 5 days of the initial refund denial notice to be considered. Due to processing times and inventory management, if significant time has passed since the return we may no longer have the ability to accept or evaluate condition of the returned merchandise. We aim to resolve all disputes quickly, but some investigations make take 7-10 business days to complete.

Restocking Fees

While we aim to have as generous and risk-free returns as reasonably possible, excessive returns drive up costs for us and ultimately our customers. As a result we reserve the right to charge up to a 15% restocking fee on returns that show signs of heavy usage and diminished condition or value from when originally purchased. This is assessed case-by-case to account for reasonable wear and tear vs negligent treatment reducing sellable condition.

If restocking fees will apply to your return, we will notify you after inspection and before processing the refund or exchange. You may choose to pay the fee for refund/exchange or have the item shipped back to you. In some cases with higher fees estimated over 25% of item value, we may deny the return entirely if restoration costs exceed reasonable expense.

Counterfeit Products

Play It Again Sports takes product authenticity and intellectual property rights seriously. We only carry officially licensed products from reputable vendors. If you suspect an item sold through our stores or website violates trademarks, patents or copyright protection, please notify our legal team immediately with details and evidence supporting your claim.

If sufficient proof is provided that counterfeit merchandise made it into our inventory, we will provide a full refund upon return of the item(s). Additional compensation for infringement claimants may also apply case-by-case once validity and actual damages have been verified by our counsel team.

Changes to Return Policy

Business needs, costs, and laws may require us to update sections of this return policy from time to time. We reserve the right to amend the rules regarding returns and exchanges without advance notice to customers. All refunds and exchanges will be handled under the policy terms active at the time of original purchase. Any changes enacted after purchase shall not apply retroactively.
